march 25th:
during our second full day in belgium, elke and aseem took all the "out-of-towners" to brugge for a day of site-seeing fun. we loaded up an entire cab of a train, and arrived at brugge around 10am. the weather was cold, gray, and rainy... but that didn't dampen our spirits! if anything, it made the city seem that much more magical and rich.

elke's dad led the group through the old streets of brugge... showing us the sites, and waving around a big red umbrella in case stragglers got lost.

we took a tour of an old brewery, rode little boats in the canal, ate mussels and fries (and belgian beer) for lunch, and wandered the streets... never in my life have i seen so many chocolate shops in such close proximity to one another! the only thing separating one from the next? a lace shop!
