if you had access to a unix box you could have probably seen this by typing "date '+%s'" but, sadly, i didn't get this post up in time...

the number in question was the number of seconds since January 1, 1970.

man last week was exhausting.
i've never schmoozed so hard in my life.

but this weekend i got to relax... sort of... by sewing all day saturday and sunday. conor's holiday party was sunday night (since they are so busy during the holidays, they have to have it later in the year). the theme was 'dress like your favorite movie star'.

and so we did.

i made him a fantastic 'Buddy the Elf' costume -- and I was his girlfriend (at the end, in a very hot red elf-lady suit)(i looked just like the little girl in that picture i linked, just in red, not blue)(i think i made that face the whole night, too).

so once i stitched everything up, conor hand decorated his jacket and made his own hat. he even wore the yellow tights. we even had the shoes. we were damn fine specimen.

lets just say: we rocked.
we came in 2nd place!

gamey

the game developers conference is in town this week. it's fun because i get to skirt back and forth between the office and the convention center, attending sessions on the games industry and seeing the latest and greatest that the world of gaming has to offer. i'm a total newbie and am still really trying to just 'figure it all out'. so far so good - i feel more connected to a community now. particularly more so than when i went to LA last summer - that was just a fun trip where i wandered around an expo. this conference, i actually get to participate. soak up some knowledge. you know, grow a little. can't complain!

feet

my galoshes arrived! and they are wonderfully pink. they are also very dry and warm. i got to test them out last night and today as the rain has started to pour again. i'll post a picture of them later on this afternoon.

right now, i'm on my way to my first podiatry appointment (to address a painful arch on my left foot). i wonder what they do at the podiatrist... maybe it's an hour long foot massage! that would rawk.

last night i hit the gym and did some speed work on the erg. i've been back on it long enough now that i should be able to move past my uber-steady state workouts. it was fun, and somewhat nauseating, to do the speed intervals. i felt many washes of nostalgia for my rowing days (in the form of lactic acid washing through my muscles). alas.

oh and i'm very happy it is the weekend, btw. this has been a long 5 days. not bad, just long. yay for weekends!

anxiously awaiting

today i have a treat arriving in the mail: a pair of pink galoshes. i really hope they fit. i am very excited about them. the rain here has been ridiculous.

i'm in a softball league with some friends that started a month ago. we've only been able to play one game so far, because they've all been getting rained out. boo.

at least the one good thing is that i couldn't go to tonight's game anyways (we're going to a play!) so it may as well get rained out as far as i'm concerned. but that's selfish of me. bad megan.
